project showcase: thermobliss 2018 calendar and recipe books

The Print Group were excited to work with Lauren from Create, Make, Bake on her range of recipe books and 2018 Calendar!

The ThermoBliss 2018 Calendar was designed and printed by The Print Group. The calendar offers a variety of delicious thermomix recipes and also a handy conversion chart for commonly used ingredients. It offers a fresh design and is printed with a 300gsm cover that is gloss cello glazed single sided with the internal pages on 150gsm matt art stock. The calendar is finished as a saddle-stitched booklet and single hole drilled for hanging.

In addition to Lauren’s calendar, The Print Group printed two additional recipe books ‘ Thermobliss – Sweet Recipes’ and ‘Tasty Tummies – Healthy Lunchbox Recipe Book’. Both recipe books are A5 in size and printed with a 250gsm matt cover and 150gsm matt internal pages and saddle-stitched.

how do I supply a print file?

Layout programs such as Adobe InDesign are ideal when designing your print artwork. When sending print files, The Print Group requires press quality PDF files, with all fonts embedded and transparencies flattened.  Images should be at least 300ppi for best results.  Use CMYK or SPOT colour as specified in your quotation (no RGB) and include crop marks and at least 2mm bleed if required.

project showcase: velg 2018 corporate diary

The Print Group were proud to work again with VELG Training on the printing of their 2018 Diary.

The diaries were designed with the same bright and bubbly personality as the VELG team and offer a refreshing and colourful way to plan the year. The design also offers inspirational quotes and advice, with key dates also noted for VELG’S members and the VET (Vocational, Education and Training) community to remember throughout the year. We just love how the design flows from month to month, with each tab and month offering a new combination of colours. The full bleed throughout the diary also offers a very professional finish.

The diary layout offers a monthly view, followed by 1 week per spread. The daily design offers morning, afternoon and evening sections with plenty of room for notes and to do lists for the week. Another great feature of the diary is the notes pages found at the end of each month and also the 18 month year view found at the very beginning of the diary.

The 2018 diary does offer a slightly heavier cover this year, printed in full colour single sided on a 400 gsm hi-bulk artboard and gloss cello glazed double sided. The internal pages have been printed on 110gsm uncoated stock, which is ideal for note taking. The tabs have been custom printed on a 150gsm stock, then die-cut, with the diary bound with silver wire for a professional finish.

2018 pantone color of the year - ultra violet

Every year, the Pantone Color Institute’s colour experts analyse design, film, food, fashion, art and entertainment as well as materials, travel, sports and technology, to arrive at a colour of the year. They analyse and forecast global colour trends and are recognised around the world as the leading source of color information.  This year the Pantone color of the year has been announced and it’s Pantone 18-3838 – also known as ultra violet.

The ultra violet hue has been described by the Pantone Color Institute as “dramatically provocative and thoughtful” which “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us towards the future”.

They continue stating, As individuals around the world become more fascinated with color and realize its ability to convey deep messages and meanings, designers and brands should feel empowered to use color to inspire and influence. The Color of the Year is one moment in time that provides strategic direction for the world of trend and design, reflecting the Pantone Color Institute’s year-round work doing the same for designers and brands.”

The color of the year is a huge influential role in dictating trends for the year to come, so expect to see a lot of purple in 2018!
