As specialists in printing for the Education & Training Sector here in Australia, we have seen the very nature of face to face training change almost overnight. We have been quick to pivot and offer genuine solutions to our clients in the education industry to help support them in finding creative ways to continue to train during this pandemic.

While there are many VET providers that have simply cancelled classes, we are seeing more than ever, RTOs adapting and changing their mode of delivery to virtual classrooms or online learning.

Does that mean print is not needed? Absolutely not.

We are proof this is certainly not the case. RTOs continue to support their students with printed materials and our services of printing training materials and dispatching direct to students at home is certainly gaining momentum as more and more of our clients jump on board with this option.

For both students and trainers who are comfortable with face to face learning, this rush to online education may be quite overwhelming. The pleasant surprise from all this is that the traditional classroom setting is still very much alive – it has just adjusted to a different medium; for right now!

So, as we all adapt to the sudden change in the learning environment, we wanted to take a closer look at how you can further support your students during this pandemic.


In a face-to-face classroom setting, students and trainer interact seamlessly. The ability to immediately ask questions, have discussions and interact during class is part of the appeal of a classroom setting. Conference call programs like Zoom, are still allowing this seamless interaction like a classroom setting. Also using digital tools like online forums, web chats and social channels are a great way to keep interacting with your students.


If your students are used to printed resources, that doesn’t have to change. Mailing students their learner guides to support their virtual classroom is a great option!


Remember that we are all adjusting to this new normal and that getting into routine and understanding new systems will have a learning curve. Set deadlines but remain flexible. If a student doesn’t show up to call online, reach out and engage with the student to see how you can help.


Everyone is adjusting to this new “traditional classroom” environment and while we are in the digital age, don’t assume that everyone has reliable access to the internet or reliable devices. This can cause a lot of stress for students and teachers alike when technology does not want to cooperate. Reach out to students and work together to offer realistic solutions. Whether it’s helping get access to a reliable device, or better internet or getting creative in how that student receives instructions and material – be helpful.


Giving students time to adjust is important. With so much uncertainty and stress, perhaps jumping into assessments may not be the best time to assess your students’ knowledge or ability. The best option may be to postpone for now.
While education has been forced to change, this disruption should not take away from the students’ core learning experience. Find a way to interact with your students and create an inclusive and engaging environment to help their learning experience.

While this pandemic is only temporary, it presents an opportunity to explore our education options and adapt through different modes of delivery. Look at new innovative ways to support and teach your students.
